›How are these different from other aurora alerts?
Most alerts fire on the global Kp index alone, so you get pinged at noon, under overcast, or for storms too weak for your latitude. Ours are conditioned on your location: the Kp threshold for your magnetic latitude, your darkness hours, and your cloud forecast all have to line up before we send anything.
›How do meteor shower alerts work?
Two emails per peak worth watching: an afternoon reminder so you can plan while you're awake, then a go-time email about 90 minutes before your best local window if clouds still look good. If clouds ruin the night after the reminder, we stay silent.
›How many alerts will I get?
During a typical month near solar maximum: a handful of aurora emails for northern-tier locations, one or two for the mid-latitudes, occasionally none. Meteor emails only land around major peak nights that clear your local astronomy and cloud gates.
›Do I need to install an app?
No. There is nothing to download. Email works on every device, and the full forecast is free on this site in any browser, with no account required. Web alerts cover one US location per email.
